I know this is my second post in one day and it is right after that last one. But I felt like that last post should be alone by itself. It just needs to be.
My meeting with the Air Force recruiter went suprisingly very well. Before now the Air Force was a bit of an after thought and I figured it would kinda stay that way but I decided what the heck I will hear what he has to say anyways. He wasn't at all as pressuring as he sounded on the phone he was actually the best recruiter I have talked to so far. (And I have talked to a lot by now)
I now think that if I join any military branch it will be the Air Force. There are lot of things that are particularly interesting about the Air Force. It is very appealing to those kind of people that do now want to be foot soldiers and do typical foot soldier things. I do not necessarily want to go hiking around in the great outdoors with a survival pack strapped to my back and learn how to throw grenades and dig trenches and walk around in enemy territory not wondering if a rocket is going to be fired my way any second or if I am going to step on a land mine....I'm sorry I wish I was that hard core and I'm sure it would feel really great to say I accomplished all the crap they throw at you during training but some things are just better options than others.
But the Air Force offers a bit more freedom..and a much different type of military lifestyle. It is as if it is almost more career oriented than it is military oriented. For instance, if you want a career that translates almost perfectly into a normal civilian career the Air Force would be the place to go. Almost everything they work with is highly sophistacated (because it has to be) and you get 100% training on all this plus full pay as well its all free to me. Everything from Basic Training to your job earns you college credits and you get degrees in like no time because your work earns you credits.
I'm a big dreamer. I dream of traveling, I dream of freedom, of seizing moments and creating oppurtunities. I dream of excitement and anticipation of not knowing what lies ahead. I dream of doing something thoroughly enjoying and I dream of living one day at a time, and taking advantage of every situation possible. For me to sit around in good ole Heber working as a cook or even getting paid 18 dollars an hour busting my butt doing construction I don't see those things happening very well. I know I need a change I am becoming very bored with my current activities. If the Air Force can provide those things (which I know it can) then awesome. I am never scared to try something new even if it is a drastic change.
